Meet "Super Sub" Kimberley Sanders!

Meet "Super Sub" Kimberley Sanders!

Kimberley Sanders on Joining the "SUPER SUBS"

I Kimberley Sanders, Lead Dancer/Choreographer for Entertainmentfirst, Inc. would like to thank Bob Barboza - creator of 'Kids Talk Radio' for inviting me to be part of his new revolutionary concept for inner city schools -  "Super Subs".
Together as professional entertainers, mentors and teachers I believe we can reach out through this program and make a difference to a vast majority of children who may be less fortunate than others.
On March 13th we attended the Animo Locke Tech High School in South Central LA and my experience with the kids and the teachers was a very positive one. We found that the students were willing to watch demonstrations and experience different forms of modern dance and were above all ready to participate in learning routines based from street or hip hop dance in which they could relate to and get excited about.
As a choreographer and dance teacher I find it important to relate to the social aspects in these kids lives and keeping dance relative to things they already know such as sports, music and the streets, makes it easier for them to let down their guard and give it a try.
We always pull from the positive sides of life.

Overall the day was positive, esteem building for most and a lot of fun - we only hope we can make a change in young people's lives and be a positive role model for the next generation.

Dance is a form of fun and a release for these kids but we also like to show them that there are certain disciplines needed to get great results, relating this to their school work is also an important factor to me because our minds are a muscle that are meant to be used - not abused, so studying anything takes time and Practice makes Perfect!!

Welcome to the Kid's Talk Radio Video Library.

Welcome to the Kid's Talk Radio Video Library.

Kid's Talk Radio Videos

Here a short collection of some of our Kid's Talk Radio interviews. We use some of these videos to train new Kid's Talk Radio news reporters. Bill Ward and Kenny G were very kind to us! They were both really busy. We can't thank them enough for being kind enough to grant us these interviews.

Ron Knight has a ton of talent and he does a great job playing the part of James Brown on TV. This is a professional video that we hope you enjoy. We are so happy to have Ron Knight as a Super Sub. The kids love him and he does a great job teaching individual classes about the music industry and life in general.

Ham_Radio

Don't forget about Ham Radio.

Don't forget about Ham Radio.

Amateur radio, often called ham radio, is both a hobby and a service that uses various types of radio communications equipment to communicate with other radio amateurs for public service, recreation and self-training. A participant is called anamateur radio operator, or a ham.[1]

Amateur radio operators have personal wireless communications with friends, family members, and even complete strangers, and often support their communities with emergency and disaster communications while increasing their personal knowledge ofelectronics and radio theory. An estimated six million people throughout the world are regularly involved with amateur radio.[2]

The term "amateur" is not a reflection on the skills of the participants, which are often quite advanced; rather, "amateur" indicates that amateur radio communications are not allowed to be made for commercial or money-making purposes.

Special Note: On a recent trip to Stanford University I visited the Ham Radio Club only to discover Moose Code is no longer a requirement for a ham radio license. I was a radio operator in the US Army. So, I have a special love for all of this ham radio business. We welcome any stories or comments that you can share on this topic.

Who are the Super Subs?

Who are the Super Subs?

The Making of the Movie: Kid's Talk Radio Super Subs

On March 13, 2008, the Kid's Talk Radio Super Substitute Teachers will take over a Charter High School for just one day.  Don't worry; the real teachers will be just down the hall meeting with the school principal.   This is all part of a new program that is all about finding creative was to give back to public education.  This project represents community creativity at its best.  We will put "Super Subs" in all the classrooms.  We will be teaching language arts in a very creative way.  We will use music, dance, and technology to get our lessons taught.  The entire event will be recorded in a special three-camera shoot.  The students will do all of the sound and camera work.  At the end of the day, or period six, all the teachers will play instruments and form an all teacher band.  We will be posting news stories about this event all week.  It's easy to sit around and just criticize what is going on in our schools.  We recommend that you try being part of finding creative solution to help the school succeed.

We are documenting what is going on before during and after our special day at the Animo Locke Tech Charter High School.  This is one of the Green Dot Public Schools.

Jr. Medical School

Jr. Medical School

Jr. Medical School by Bob Barboza

This is one of my favorite distance learning projects. It all started with a grant from the University of Irvine Educational Program. I was given a wonderful opportunity to create a ten day medical school simulation for young women. We later opened up the school to all students in grades 4 through 9. Jr. Medical School is now a distance learning program offered by Bob Barboza to students around the world. It was designed to help students to get excited about going to college and majoring in science and then going on to medical school. For more information about Jr. Medical School contact: Bob Barboza @ Suprschool@aol.com or visit the Super School University Website at: www.SuperSchoolUniversity.com
