Mission accomplished. The First ladies from Africa met in Los Angeles, California and they got their message to the people. The First Ladies were discussing women’s health and education issues, AIDS and other challenges facing their countries. Our goal was to cover the news from the inside. Our Kids Talk Radio News Team was not lucky enough to be invited into the conference. However, we used our brains and technology to get the job done anyway. One of our reporters had an invitation and fed us the news from inside. This is all we needed. Our job was to get the news to the kids all over the world. We formed a news team of five kids and we used our iPhones. We used our tech tools and took photos and collected sound clips to put our stories together. After the conference we met in our own studio and managed to get the news to our own people (Kids). We talk about the important issues among ourselves and came up with our own way to present the news. We created some important Podcast and we invited you to see and listen to Kids Talk Radio.
10 Kids Talk Radio Suggestions for African First Ladies....
After having a long talk with kids, we would like to make some recommendations and comments to the African First Ladies who visited the United States.
1. The next time you have a summit meeting make sure that you find ways to include kids and Kids Talk Radio.
2. Eliminate all of the gatekeepers. Those are the people that get in between first ladies and kids. These people make all the arrangements, do your scheduling, make decisions for you, and make all of the rules.
3. Give kids and Kids Talk Radio a chance to interview first ladies in our own way. We are very interested in your stories and we want to help. Don’t be afraid to talk to us about AIDS.
4. Remember that we are just like the first ladies. Kids don’t have very much power, we have no authority, and we have no budget. All we have is kids power.
5. We want to setup at least one Kids Talk Radio Station in each of your counties. We want to collect stories and share them with kids and others from around the world. We call this kids power. With kids power we can make a difference. We know how to use technology on a low budget. We text message each other and we have our own system of communication. We listen to music and watch a lot of TV so we know more than you think. Stop excluding us from the important issues.
6. Remember that one day the world is going to belong to us. This is a good time to get us more involved. Ask us the tough questions. If we don’t have answers to tough questions then help us to find answers.
7. Remember the next time to allow kids and Kids Talk Radio into your First Lady Summit Conference Meetings. We need information to get ready for the day when we are in charge. Make sure that when important issues are being discussed kids are involved and give feedback. This will help to improve relations among adults and young adults. Find creative ways to get us involved. If you want more doctors for Africa ask kids to ask doctors to help. What do you have to loose by trying this creative technique.
8. Listen to our Podcast of African Issues.
9. Listen to Kids Talk Radio to get very creative ideas on how kids from around the world can collect stories and help each other.
10. Our world is in a lot of trouble once again. AIDS and other challenges are taking lives. Our world finances are in a big mess, we are still having difficulty talking to one another. Do you think it might be time to let the kids take over? This is just a question, you have tried everything else and failed, why not give “kids power” a chance.
Additional African First Lady Conference (Health Summit) Information
First ladies from 15 nations had planned to attend the health summit, with representatives from another six African countries, including South Africa.
Celebrities were on hand many of which do lots of good things behind the scenes that often time go unnoticed. Danny Glover has been there many times in his role as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations children's and development programs. Actress Sharon Stone recently went to Uganda to see the drilling of new wells. The wells provide clean water for drinking, sanitation and food preparation, something that is crucial to fight the spread of disease. She spoke at a news conference last week in advance of the meeting.
"The clean water exists right below the surface of the ground," said Sharon Stone. "And we have the opportunity to create it, to drill the well, to give the water, to make the irrigation system so that there is food. We have the opportunity to give the toilets instead of the pit latrine. We have the opportunity to stop the cholera and death and dying."

“It is so good to hear that the newly appointed U.S. ambassador at large for Global Women's Issues, Melanne Verveer, pledged the support of the Obama administration in combating HIV-AIDS, malaria and other infectious diseases, and addressing issues such as maternal health care. This is a step in the right direction. We just need to keep finding creative and other ways to help each other.
We heard stories of Cabo Verde Citizens saying up all know to hear the news that Obama was elected. We seem to be doing a good job of keeping hope alive.”

Kids Talk Radio Covers the African First Ladies Summit Meeting
Bob Barboza assigned Kids Talk Radio YMCA Long Beach to cover the African 
First Ladies. After the press conference Kids Talk Radio came up with a list of recommendations for all of the first ladies. We managed to work with an adult that was attending the conference and that is how we got our news. Mainstream media was invited thourhg press passes. Kids Talk Radio fought hard to get into but we could not get pass the gatekeepers. We love the challange of getting the news against all odds. We wanted to be creative and not give up. We ended up holding our own press conference to make sure that kids would get the news. This web page contains all of our videos, audio radio feeds, and photos.
Our hopes and dreams are that someone will read and listen to our story and make it possible for Kids Talk Radio to attend these types of importnat events. It is important that kids know about AIDS, Women's Rights, and other important issues that face Africa and the rest of the world.
